'Abair' - Public Speaking Success
On Friday the 10th February the Abbey hosted the preliminary round of Gael-Linn's prestigious 'Abair' public speaking competition. We entered six students across two competitions against the following schools:
St Colman's College Newry
Our Lady's Newry
St Michael's Lurgan
Rathmore Grammar School, Belfast,
Coláiste Mhúire, Dundalk.
James Meehan, Year 12 and Andrew McAteer, Year 11 represented the Abbey in the GCSE competition and were extremely successful with James Meehan picking up 1st Place and Andrew coming in a close second. In the A-Level section, the school was represented by Year 13 students; Conor Hoey, Lee Ruddy and Micheal Campbell and last years winner Connor Hogan from Year 12.
In an extremely competitive section Connor Hogan was awarded Joint 2nd Place and is through to the Ulster Finals along with James and Andrew from the GCSE Section.

Slemish 8's Irish Blog
8 Slemish are currently blogging on a weekly basis reviewing what they have learned inside and outside of their Irish Class. The boys are encouraged to 'blog / evaluate' their progress, as well as assisting each other by commenting on each others' blog.
